FAQ

The U.S. Copyright Act governs and regulates copyright responsibility for anyone who wishes to record an audio cd.  IT IS A VIOLATION OF COPYRIGHT LAW TO RECORD SOMEONE ELSE'S SONG WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING PERMISSION FROM THE OWNER!


BEFORE YOU RECORD…select your songs, and…


©  If your project is comprised of only your own original works, protect your creativity!  Register those original songs with the U.S. Copyright Office immediately.  CopyClear can assist - more info is available here.


©  If you want to include any songs or parts of songs that are composed by someone else, you must first have the permission of the copyright owner(s). These permissions are called compulsory/mechanical licenses, and they require statutory royalty payments paid to the copyright owner(s).  These rates are set by the U.S. Copyright Office.   CopyClear can assist in obtaining these licenses.


Please note:  the copyright owners have every legal right to do as they please about the use of their songs on your cd.  They may even refuse to allow their songs to be recorded in whole or in part.
