LICENSES

A mechanical license is required if you plan to record & distribute your own audio version (physical cd, USB, digital download) of a copyrighted song. 

A synchronization license allows you to "sync" your own version of copyrighted music to visual media (video, dvd, tv ad).  These are mostly unstructured and difficult to obtain.
